People often ask how I began making jewelry. The truth is, it crept up on me. Then it hung around until I came to my senses.

I’ve never been able to resist an art project. Ask my older brother. Once, for high school spirit day, I used duct tape to completely cover his car in paper plates, rims to roof. (I ruined his paint job, and narrowly escaped with my life.) Years later, I began making jewelry as gifts for friends and family. I was working full-time in an office by day, but by night I was discovering my passion. I took two semesters of metalsmithing at Louisiana State University and designed jewelry in any spare time I could find. I loved it.

But it wasn’t until I moved to Austin -- a town where doing what you love is not only respected, it’s revered -- that I took a deep breath and a leap of faith. With my family cheering me on, I created Swoon in 2010. Now, I realize it’s been my path all along.

I want the women that I design for to feel the same way: inspired, encouraged, and like the truest version of themselves. Because I hand-craft every item, no two are alike, and I am always thrilled to create custom pieces. I use only precious metals and unique stones and minerals. I strive for design that is new and fresh, but grounded in classic elements. Every piece should be exciting, yet timeless. I want it to bring joy and beauty to its wearer for years to come.

It takes time, and tools, and training to turn raw materials into a necklace or pair of earrings. In my case, every piece of jewelry is also an exercise in gratitude. I am passionate about what I do. It is because of my family and my amazing clients that I am able to do it. Thank you for helping me live my dream.
